Fulham FC and Movember partnering for men’s health

Movember has partnered with Fulham Football Club Foundation to deliver Movember Ahead of the Game, a mental fitness program that teaches young athletes, their parents and coaches how to talk about mental health.

Globally, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day; and here in the UK, three out of four suicides are men. Additionally, half of all lifetime mental illness begins by the age of 14 and 75% are established by the age of 24.

That’s why conversations about mental health and fitness earlier in life are important.

Over the past year, we have been partnering with Fulham Football Club Foundation to deliver Movember Ahead of the Game, a mental fitness program that teaches young athletes, their parents and coaches how to talk about mental health, get help when needed and overcome life’s challenges.

Together, we’ve supported more than 1,400 young players, parents and coaches, to create healthier and more resilient communities.

The partnership is being celebrated at Craven Cottage, Fulham FC’s home on the banks of the River Thames in London on Saturday 7th October when Fulham welcome Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The match day activation will include encouraging fans to join the Movember movement and take a stand against silence as part of a campaign to support the conversation around mental health and the stigma associated with getting help.

Movember supports all individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community, including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual. Health disparities exist, with LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing higher rates of mental health issues and discrimination, often exacerbated by stigma in healthcare. We advocate for the right to self-identify, protection from discrimination, inclusive education, and rights-affirming healthcare, ensuring everyone can lead a healthy, dignified life.

Movember acknowledge the many and varied experiences of people navigating their health and wellbeing, those who support them and those who came before us whose stories, struggles and strength have shaped what we know. We recognise those who have generously shared their knowledge and wisdom with us and honour those we have lost too soon. Their knowledge, insight and expertise are essential to improving the design, delivery and evaluation of the work that we do and their experiences remind us why this work matters.

Movember Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
