5 years of conversations powered by Pringles

For 5 years Movember have teamed up with Pringles to help all of us get comfortable talking about mental health.

For 5 years we’ve been on a mission with Pringles to help everyone feel more confident checking in with a mate and seeing if they're doing okay. In a real way.

There’s a myth that exists around men’s health that men don’t want to talk, and that they don’t see talking as an effective way to solve the problems they are facing. But research we carried out with 3,000 men from the UK, Australia and Canada shows this isn’t the case. In fact, 77% of men reported seeing talking as a good way of solving problems. However 41% of respondents reported regretting opening up to someone in their lives. This suggests that something was going wrong when they opened up and they didn’t get what they needed from the conversation.

Enter Pringles. With their help we’ve sought to support people in the lives of men to feel more confident having difficult conversations about mental health. We have transformed millions of cans of Pringles, giving them a scannable moustache to help access Movember Conversations, a tool where you can practice the skills you need to speak to men that are struggling. Since then, 200,000 people have visited Movember Conversations and users reporting excellent results: 87% reported an increased understand of how to reach out to men, 78% felt more confident to reach out to men.

This year we have big ambitions, with the goal to exceed 500,000 people scanning a Movember can of Pringles. If you’d like to brush up on your conversation skills or have a man in your life you’re worried about, then check out Movember Conversations and get chatting.

Movember supports all individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community, including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual. Health disparities exist, with LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing higher rates of mental health issues and discrimination, often exacerbated by stigma in healthcare. We advocate for the right to self-identify, protection from discrimination, inclusive education, and rights-affirming healthcare, ensuring everyone can lead a healthy, dignified life.

Movember acknowledge the many and varied experiences of people navigating their health and wellbeing, those who support them and those who came before us whose stories, struggles and strength have shaped what we know. We recognise those who have generously shared their knowledge and wisdom with us and honour those we have lost too soon. Their knowledge, insight and expertise are essential to improving the design, delivery and evaluation of the work that we do and their experiences remind us why this work matters.
