The Cox Lipholstery Squad Grows the Mo
Russ and Manita leading Mo efforts
Cox Enterprises has earned the top spot in fundraising for the Movember Foundation for two of the past three years, raising $632,000 in that time. The Cox Lipholstery Squad, comprised of more than 100 Cox employees from across departments and divisions, started its grassroots support of Movember 11 years ago under the leadership of Russell Mitchell, a senior manager in the finance department of Cox Communications.
“Movember has become a much-loved annual tradition at Cox,” he explained. “We host events throughout the month to not just raise money, but to also boost awareness for men’s health. Building a community committed to spreading the Mo is our goal! From Halloween costume pot lucks to the beloved Facial Hair Judgement Day and cooking classes, we’re having fun while educating our teammates.”
Additionally, the company makes a strong connection between the fun and fundraising activities of Movember to Cox wellness programs that encourage men to be proactive about their health. In fact, employees can even earn a payroll credit for completing an annual health screening.
Movember is a program that hits especially close to home. Cox Enterprises Chairman Jim Kennedy, the grandson of the company founder Gov. James M. Cox, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014.
