Managing recovery after surgery for prostate cancer
Volker describes his recovery after radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and the benefits of involving his partner.
Volker was diagnosed with prostate cancer at 77 years during an annual health check which revealed increased levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA). He recounts the decision to have a radical prostatectomy and managing his recovery after surgery. Volker describes how the relationship with his partner has been strengthened by involving her in his prostate cancer journey.
"Since treatment I’ve had an issue with erections…but that doesn’t stop you from having embraces, cuddles and really showing affection for each other."
