Our Motivation

This year, at Ashford McArthurGlen, we’re proud to support Movember once again.

Movember is a charity dedicated to men’s health, with a focus on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Since 2003, Movember has funded over 1,250 projects worldwide, transforming men’s health research and enhancing how health services support men.

The need is critical: Men are living 4.5 years less than women, often for preventable reasons. Around 10.8 million men globally face a prostate cancer diagnosis, and testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. Heartbreakingly, a man dies by suicide every minute, accounting for 69% of all suicides.

This year, we’re inviting our brand partners to join us on this journey. We’re thrilled to partner with the Stour Centre, which is lending us an exercise bike for our Guest Services area. Throughout November, brand teams and staff will cycle a total of 60 km, symbolizing the man who takes his life every 60 seconds.

The McArthurGlen team will also take part, including some special individual challenges. Our Movement Team Leader, Lee, will run 60 km and grow a moustache to raise awareness, and our teammate Charlotte will take on 60 km on the gym stair master.

We’ll also be hosting a special “Mo-Ment” on the 21st, featuring a guest cancer consultant who will share insights on spotting and supporting those affected by testicular and prostate cancer. We’ll also hear from guest speakers sharing their own experiences with mental health.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to making this our best Movember yet!
