My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

As someone who left the Netherlands to chase a dream overseas, I know how heavy things can feel when you’re far from home, far from family, and far from the people who’ve always had your back. Moving to a new country and building a life from the ground up isn’t easy, and for a long time, I felt the weight of trying to keep it all together on my own.

Over time, I’ve learned that real strength doesn’t come from staying silent. It comes from being vulnerable, opening up, and having people around you who truly listen. I’ve been lucky to find that kind of support system here in the U.S., friends who check in, who ask how you’re really doing, and who create space to talk about the hard stuff without judgment. That kind of connection has been life-changing for me, and it’s something everybody deserves.

That’s why I’m beyond proud to be running my first-ever marathon in 2025, the iconic New York City Marathon, as part of Team Movember. It’s a dream come true for me, but it’s also a chance to run for something much bigger than myself.

Every minute, somewhere in the world, a man dies by suicide. In the U.S., 4 out of 5 suicides are men. Too many men are still suffering in silence, thinking they have to handle everything alone. It’s time to change that!

I’m running to raise awareness, to break the stigma, and to help stop men from dying too young. Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and allowed to feel what they’re feeling, without fear, shame, or silence.

No one should have to struggle alone. Let’s make sure they don’t!
